Salvatore La Cavera III, or Sal, completed his undergraduate studies in Physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz and subsequently earned a first class MSc in Photonic and Optical Engineering at the University of Nottingham. His PhD through the EPSRC and RCNDE Industrial CASE Partnership programme will focus on designing and implementing novel ultrasonic transducer technology at the end of optical fibres for the measurement and detection of flaws and disease in aerospace and biomedical applications.
